When I was a pre-teen I saw an animated movie of "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe." I don't know exactly what it was about the story I liked, but upon learning it was a book, I got it and read it. A few years later I got the entire Chronicles of Narnia (7 books) as a gift and was excited to read them all. However, I lost the books at an airport - sad story. I never could bring myself to buy or check out the books again because I felt so bad about losing them - silly, yes.
Years later, my wife bought the books again for me and I read them all as an adult. I loved it. It was a slice of childhood that had been missing, and my wife was able to give that back to me. Anyway, as you probably know the first major motion picture of the Chronicles of Narnia has been made, and seeing it was such a joy. I am a movie nut, and I don't plan to write too much about movies on this site. However, this movie does an excellent job at capturing the spirit and principles of the book.
A must see for all Tolkien-weary enthusiasts.
A side note: If you haven't seen Chris Parnell and Adam Samberg's music video "Lazy Sunday" you are not yet whole. Click
